Precision Sapphire Rods

     Synthetic sapphires are widely used because of their high toughness and strength. At the same time, it also has good optical properties. Therefore, in addition to traditional optical applications, such as optical windows, lenses, it can also be made into a variety of precision sapphire rods. The main type of sapphire rods are cylindrical sapphire rods and tapered sapphire rods.

All-surfaces-polished or fine ground cylindrical rods

     The cylindrical sapphire rod is the standard type of sapphire rods. It is usually cut from C-plane sapphire crystals. The C axis of the sapphire is the same as the geometric midline of the crystal rod. This provides better transmittance and mechanical strength. Depending on the application, Creator Optics can produce the following types of precision sapphire rods: all surfaces are finely ground, only two ends are polished, all surfaces are polished. The flatness of polished end surface is up to 1/4 lambda at 632.8nm.

Subulate Rods / Tapered Sapphire Rods

     The sapphire tapered rod / sapphire subulate rod is a special type of cylindrical sapphire rod. One end of it is a conical or flat cone or quadrilateral pyramid. These surfaces are optically polished or finely ground with the same cylindrical surface. Creator Optics can produce small tapered sapphire rods like sapphire tips or sapphire needles.
