Applications of Germanium Windows

Germanium windows are widely used in the infrared (IR) region with a wavelength of 2 to 20um, where Ge single crystals have higher internal transmission. The refractive index of single crystal germanium is relatively high, so an anti-reflection film needs to be coated to increase the transmittance of the germanium window. And coated with some functional films, germanium windows can be used reliably in harsh outdoor environments for a long time.

Types of Germanium Windows

According to the geometry, typical germanium window types are round, rectangular, step, polygonal, etc.

Creator Optics can provide premium quality custom germanium windows. All of these custom germanium windows are designed for precision infrared optics and laser systems. The light transmission rate is high, and the transmitted beam has little or no distortion. The circumference is ground and both sides are chip-free beveled. All parameters of germanium windows can be customized according to customer requirements. The material is an infrared grade germanium crystal. Available in a variety of optical coatings, these windows are widely used in infrared detectors and infrared imaging systems.
